Alfred Jung Lee is a writer and seasonal farm worker living in Oregon. He is at work on a book of literary nonfiction that has received support from the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference, an Oregon Literary Career Fellowship, and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University where he was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Economics and Business Journalism. Lee will be an Iowa Arts Fellow and M.F.A. candidate at the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program in fall 2025.

At MacDowell, Lee finished a revision of his book of literary nonfiction.

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)

Alfred Jung Lee worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
