Alina Orlov is a filmmaker and multimedia artist. Her most recent short film, The Cavalry (2024), premiered in the Pardi di Domani section of the 77th Locarno Film Festival and has screened at MoMA Doc Fortnight, Vancouver International Film Festival, Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival, DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, the Society for Visual Anthropology Film & Media Festival, Cosmic Rays, Antimatter, among others. The film is part of the Duke University Libraries collection. While at MacDowell, Orlov will continue work on her next short film, an experimental documentary that catalogues forms of witnessing and explores how civil violence is publicly observed and mediated.

Mixter
Alina Orlov worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
