Blair Braverman is a journalist and dogsledder living in northern Wisconsin. She completed her first book, Welcome to the Goddamn Ice Cube (Ecco), which profiles a remote seal-hunting village in the Norwegian Arctic and explores the dynamics of being a young woman in a male-dominated landscape.

Blair Braverman worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
