Carole Cadwalladr is a writer and journalist. In 2018, she broke the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook story for the Guardian and The New York Times as part of a long-running investigation into technology, fake news, and political manipulation. In early 2022, she stood trial for defamation as a result of her work on Russian interference in the Brexit vote, and was vindicated.

While in residence at MacDowell, she worked on a non-fiction account of her investigation.

Mansfield

Carole Cadwalladr worked in the Mansfield studio.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club.
