Charles Poekel began his career producing and photographing theatrical documentaries including Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead (Sundance ’15), Hey Bartender (SxSW ’13), Fake It So Real (’11) and Making The Boys (Berlinale ’10). His narrative directorial debut, Christmas, Again, premiered at Locarno in 2014 and went on to play the Sundance Film Festival, New Directors / New Films, and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2016.

Charles Poekel worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
