Claire Luchette is the author of the novel Agatha of Little Neon (worked on at MacDowell in 2018). A National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree, Luchette has received fellowships and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cullman Center at the NYPL, the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, and the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing. Their work has appeared in Granta, Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, and The Iowa Review, and other publications. In 2025, they were named a winner of a Whiting Award.

While at MacDowell in 2025, Luchette revised their second novel, Swans, forthcoming from FSG.

Irving Fine

Claire Luchette worked in the Irving Fine studio.

Youngstown Studio was given to MacDowell by friends of Miss Myra McKeown in Youngstown, OH, where she promoted both art and music. It was renamed Irving Fine Studio in 1972 in honor of Irving Fine, a distinguished composer, conductor, and teacher who was a MacDowell Fellow during the 1940s and 1950s.
