Dan Kaufman worked on a song cycle about the Iraq War. His record Force of Light was inspired by the poet Paul Celan and was released in 2007 on John Zorn's Tzadik label. In 2017 he worked on The Fall of Wisconsin: The Conservative Conquest of a Progressive Bastion and the Fate of American Politics, which was published by W.W. Norton in July 2018.
