Danski Tang is an animation filmmaker and a visual artist originally from China. Focusing on hand-drawn animation and non-fiction, Tang stitches frames into an evolving organism to explore themes of memory, the subconscious, cultural indoctrination, and body autonomy. Her films speak with intimacy, voiced through women's experiences that draw people into emotional and psychological spaces.

Her latest film, Umbilical, won the Silver Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival, amongst other awards. Her work has been shown in numerous international film festivals such as MoMA DocFortnight, Melbourne Film Festival, Hot Docs Documentary Festival, Annecy, Hiroshima, New Chitose Animation Festival, and Vienna Shorts Festival. She has worked with Little Monster Film, Meow Wolf, Human Person, Dyson&Womack, POV Spark, UN Women, and others.

Tang holds an M.F.A. in experimental animation from CalArts, and she has taught at CalArts, Otis, CSU LA, and CSU Long Beach. She was selected for Annecy Animation Festival 2025 for her latest music video and awarded Silver Leopard at The Locarno Film Festival in 2019.

At MacDowell, Tang worked on the digital hand drawn animation and paintings for her new animated documentary film. She presented also her work at MacDowell Downtown during her residency.

Danski Tang worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
