Daphne Silbiger is a playwright and musician whose work includes Six Years Old (a Relentless Award semi-finalist), about the development of gender identity, and music written and recorded with the bands Go Home and Mothercat. They also perform under the moniker sa_phne. Other plays include Very Blue Light and Pound.

Silbiger's work for theater has been seen at Crashbox, The Cohen New Works Festival, Playdate at Pete's Candy Store, Corkscrew Festival, The American Playwriting Foundation Time Capsule Series, Little Theater at Dixon Place, The Secret Theater, JACK, and the Irondale Center.

Silbiger worked on two plays while at MacDowell. The first takes cues from the literature and event structure of the Grand-Guignol, and the second is an experimental script focused on three women hopelessly lost in the Tongass National Forest.

Daphne Silbiger worked in the Calderwood studio.

In the winter of 1998, motivated by his passion for reading, Stanford Calderwood donated funds for a new writers’ studio. Burr-McCallum Architects of Williamstown, MA, provided the award-winning design in 1999; and the construction of the handsome studio was completed in time for its first artist to arrive early in 2000.
