Darcy Parker Bruce is a graduate of the M.F.A. playwriting program at Smith College. They’re the recipient of a 2017 Tennessee Williams Scholarship through the Sewanee Writers' Conference, were a 2019 LAMBDA Literary Fellow, and worked with the Gullkistan Residency in Iceland in 2023.
In 2018, Bruce was granted ATHE's Judith Royer Award for Excellence in Theater for their play Soldier Poet. Their play the wolf you feed was recently produced in Ireland and Germany and will be staged in Austin, TX, in 2026. They are currently working on several projects including the upcoming publication of the Piedmont Plays with Broadway Play Publishing, a four-play cycle about America (and everything else). Outside of writing, they love stargazing, drinking coffee, and tomato sandwiches.
At MacDowell, Bruce developed The Book of a Universe Inside of a Universe, a five-act play investigating quantum consciousness, adoption, and cycles of inheritance through myth, dream, and memory. This work engages histories of war and chemical innovation, from Fritz Haber and the Bat Guano Wars to contemporary conflicts, and draws on critical conflict theory to explore how violence, love, and belonging are transmitted across generations.
