David Finnigan is a writer and theatre-maker from Ngunnawal country, Australia. He writes plays, creates performances, and develops games that explore concepts from climate and earth system science. He works regularly across the UK, Australia, and the Philippines. His playscript Kill Climate Deniers was awarded the 2017 Griffin Award. His solo show, Deep History, was performed for seasons at the Barbican London and the Public Theater NYC and was the winner of a 2022 Scotsman Fringe First Award. In 2023, his play Scenes from the Climate Era premiered at the Belvoir Theatre in Sydney.

While at MacDowell, Finnigan worked on the script for a play about the history of climate science and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This script is a commission from the Public Theater of NYC and is part of Finnigan’s ongoing series of performance works examining climate change.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
