David Gorin is the author of To a Distant Country, selected by Jennifer Chang for the Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship and published in 2025. He curates the WAVEMACHINE poetry and performance series in San Francisco and is co-editor of The Constant Critic at Fence.
At MacDowell in 2014, Gorin continued work on the title sequence of his poetry book manuscript, Dust Jackets, several parts of which have been selected by D.A. Powell for inclusion in the Best New Poets anthology series. He began work on a new sequence to be included in the manuscript, Crits, that emerged from encounters with paintings, drawings, and filmic work by other artists in residence at MacDowell.
During his 2026 residency, Gorin wrote and revised poems for his poetry book manuscript, A Pale Green Star. Additionally, he completed a revision of Or, An Essay, a book-length prose work on collaboration, play, and poetic form in collaboration with the cartoonist Adam Douglas Thompson. While in residence, he was named a 2026-2028 Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University.
