David Zellner is a filmmaker based in Austin, TX. Working with his brother Nathan, he’s written, produced, directed, and appeared in numerous award-winning shorts and feature films for more than a decade.

His work includes Goliath, which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, and KID-THING, which premiered at Sundance in 2012 and internationally at the 62nd Berlinale. KID-THING received a 2012 Gotham Award nomination.

Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter starring Rinko Kikuchi premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2014 and internationally at the 64th Berlinale. It was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (Best Actress and Best Director).

While in residence, Zellner worked on two feature screenplays, Alpha Gang and Goat Castle. His latest feature is a western entitled Damsel, starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska. It premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and internationally as part of the main competition at the 68th Berlinale.

The yellow clapboard New Jersey Studio, located on a grassy, sloping site, was funded by the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs and built as an exact replica of Monday Music Studio (1913).
