Ekaterina Wagner is a playwright, art critic, and editor based in Moscow, Russia. Her articles appeared in Robb Report, ELLE and other media outlets in Russia, Ukraine, and India. She worked as an editor and deputy editor-in-chief of several international publications in Russia, including ELLE Decoration, Harper’s Bazaar Art, and The Art Newspaper. She is currently a deputy editor-in-chief of Art Focus Now, an English-language website on contemporary art in Russia and its neighboring countries.

She is the author of five plays: Matthew (2019), Incident in the Laundry (2019), The Planet of Strange Bodies (2020), How (Not) to Offend a Partisan (2021), and I Have No Secrets (2021). In 2022, I Have No Secrets was long-listed for the Badenweiler International Playwriting Competition (Germany) and included in the program of (Anti)Depressed Fest contemporary art festival in Tomsk, Russia.

While at MacDowell, Wagner wrote a new comedy called What Brings you to Portland? in Russian and translated it into English. She also translated her immersive comedy I Have No Secrets (2021) into English and worked on the English version of her play for teenagers called Rock-n-Roll for the Cat and the Parrot.
