Eléna Rivera was born in Mexico City and raised in Paris, France. Her most recent book is Epic Series from Shearsman Books (2020). Her book Scaffolding (2017) is available from Princeton University Press. She received a National Endowment for the Arts and Literature Fellowship in Translation and was a recent recipient of fellowships from the Trelex Paris Poetry Residency (2019) and the SHOEN Foundation (2016).

In residence in 2020, she wrote poems and worked on an essay on translating poetry, and continued work on finishing and revising a manuscript.

Studios

Wood

Eléna Rivera worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
