Eman Quotah is the author of Bride of the Sea (Tin House, 2021) and a forthcoming folklore-inspired horror novel, The Night Is Not for You. She received the Arab American Book Award for fiction in 2021 for Bride of the Sea. Her essays, stories, and reviews have appeared in USA Today, The Rumpus, Kweli, The Markaz Review, and other publications. She’s also a board member of RAWI, an organization that nurtures and supports writers with roots in Southwest Asia and North Africa.

While at MacDowell, Quotah began conceptualizing and outlining a new novel inspired by her previously published short stories and her family’s history in the Hejaz region of the Arabian Peninsula.

Eman Quotah worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
