Harriet Clark received her B.A. from Stanford University, an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and returned to Stanford as a Wallace Stegner Fiction Fellow and Jones Lecturer in Creative Writing. At MacDowell she began and completed her first novel, The Hill, forthcoming from FSG in May 2026.

Mixter
Harriet Clark worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
