Hasani Sahlehe was born in St. Thomas, USVI, and graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015. His work has been exhibited at The Atlanta Contemporary, 106 Green, 12.26 in Dallas, Resort in Baltimore, Westobou, and Tops Gallery in Memphis among others.

Recent press includes ArtMaze Magazine, Bmore Art, Burnaway, Savannah Magazine, Art Papers, and New American Paintings. Sahlehe’s practice comprises a syncretic visual language that references music, lived experience, spirituality, and the history of painting.

At MacDowell, he made paintings that abstract sacred spaces.

Cheney

Hasani Sahlehe worked in the Cheney studio.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
