Janaki Lennie, Australian/Texan-American, relocated from Newfoundland Canada to Portsmouth, NH. At the time of her residency, she was exploring a new series of paintings based on relationship and dislocation. Her work is in the collections of Dallas Museum of Art, Cornell Museum of Rollins College, Curtin University, and Art Bank Australia.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
