Jen Bervin is an American poet and visual artist. Bervin’s interdisciplinary practice encompasses poetry, archival research, artist books, and large-scale art works. With Marta Werner she coedited The Gorgeous Nothings: Emily Dickinson's Envelope Poems (2012), which was a finalist for the Poetry Foundation’s 2014 Pegasus Award for Criticism and made Best Books of 2013 lists in The New Yorker and the Times Literary Supplement as well as Hyperallergic. Her other books include Draft Notation (2014), The Dickinson Composites (2010), The Silver Book (2010), The Desert (2008), A Non-Breaking Space (2005), and Nets (2004). Current research for her Creative Capital project — The Silk Poems, an experimental book nano-imprinted on silk film — includes consulting nano-technology and biomedical labs, medical libraries, and over 50 international textile archives and sericulture museums. Jen Bervin has received fellowships and residencies in art and writing from the Bogliasco Foundation, Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Creative Capital, The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, MacDowell, Visual Studies Workshop, Center for Book Arts, and Camargo Foundation in France. Her work has been shown at the Power Plant in Toronto, the Walker Art Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, the Soap Factory, and Temple Contemporary, and it appears in more than 30 collections, including Yale University, Stanford University, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, and The J. Paul Getty Museum. Bervin is on the faculty of the graduate program at Vermont College of Fine Arts and lives in Brooklyn, New York.

In the winter of 1998, motivated by his passion for reading, Stanford Calderwood donated funds for a new writers’ studio. Burr-McCallum Architects of Williamstown, MA, provided the award-winning design in 1999; and the construction of the handsome studio was completed in time for its first artist to arrive early in 2000.
