Joy Wood is a writer and editor. Her fiction has appeared in Glimmer Train, Black Warrior Review, and The Journal. She has been awarded residencies and fellowships from Djerassi, the Edward F. Albee Foundation, the Santa Fe Art Institute, the University of Michigan, and others. At MacDowell, she worked on a collection of short stories.



Joy Wood worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
