Julia Anna Morrison is a poet and filmmaker from Atlanta, GA. She is the author of the poetry collection Long Exposure, winner of the 2023 Moon City Poetry Prize, and her work is forthcoming in The Georgia Review and The Los Angeles Review. Morrison was awarded a 2024-2025 Collegiate Teaching Award at the University of Iowa, an Arts and Humanities Initiative Grant for a short film. She lives in Iowa City where she teaches screenwriting at the University of Iowa.

At MacDowell, Morrison completed a second poetry manuscript, made significant progress on a novella, and created a story-board for a short film.

Irving Fine

Julia Morrison worked in the Irving Fine studio.

Youngstown Studio was given to MacDowell by friends of Miss Myra McKeown in Youngstown, OH, where she promoted both art and music. It was renamed Irving Fine Studio in 1972 in honor of Irving Fine, a distinguished composer, conductor, and teacher who was a MacDowell Fellow during the 1940s and 1950s.
