Justin Taylor's most recent book is Riding with the Ghost (2020), a memoir. His previous books are the novel The Gospel of Anarchy and the story collections Everything Here Is the Best Thing Ever and Flings. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's, Bomb, and The Sewanee Review, which awarded him its Robert B. Heilman Prize for criticism in 2018. He lwas the recipient of a 2019 Oregon Literary Fellowship.

While in residence at MacDowell, he focused on short fiction, drafting and revising several stories that will appear in his next collection.

Justin Taylor worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
