Kate Daloz is the author of We Are As Gods: Back to the Land on the Quest for a New America. She is the director of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Writing Studio at Columbia University. Her writing has appeared in print and online at The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Esquire, and The American Scholar, among other publications.

At MacDowell, Daloz researched her new book (Knopf, 2024), a history of reproductive healthcare in America that expands on her 2017 New Yorker essay, "My Grandmother's Desperate Choice."
