Kim Addonizio is an American poet, also the author of two novels and two books about writing poetry. Her work is known for its gritty, street-wise narrators and is often focused on darker themes, such as mortality and loss. Her work has earned Addonizio fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a Pushcart Prize and a John Ciardi Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
