Lance Richardson is the author of House of Nutter: The Rebel Tailor of Savile Row, named one of the notable books of 2018 by The Sunday Times, The Mail on Sunday, Esquire, and the American Library Association; it is currently being adapted into a television series by a major studio.

While at MacDowell, he wrote one and a half chapters of TRUE NATURE: The Pilgrimage of Peter Matthiessen, a comprehensive biography of the award-winning novelist, naturalist, and Zen roshi to be published by Knopf/Pantheon in 2024. Richardson was named an NEH Public Scholar in 2021 and is mounting an expedition to Dolpo, Nepal, in May 2022, to retrace Matthiessen's "Snow Leopard" trek.
