Laura Lark received her B.A. in English at the University of Houston in 1987, her M.A. in creative writing at the University of Houston in 1989, and her M.F.A. in painting at the University of Houston in 2002. She has participated in residency programs at the Virginia Creative Center for the Arts in 2013 and at MacDowell. Solo exhibitions include “The Misuses of Enchantment” and “Night Gallery” at Devin Borden Gallery, Houston. She creates pointillist portraits and video installations.

Laura Lark worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
