Len Schiff is a lyricist/librettist. During his residency, he worked with composer David Mallamud on book and lyrics for the Pentagon Papers musical, Dangerous, which they began developing as 2016-17 Dramatist Guild Fellows. The work is expected to receive a proof-of-concept concert reading in 2018.

Other current projects include adaptations of the novels Swordspoint and The Man Who Was Thursday. Previous works include The Golem of Havana (music: Salomon Lerner, book: Michel Hausmann), which premiered July 2014 at Barrington Stage in Pittsfield, MA; and Signs of Life (music: Joel Derfner, book: Peter Ullian), which has enjoyed runs at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago and Marjorie Deane Theater in New York.

Len Schiff worked in the Irving Fine studio.

Youngstown Studio was given to MacDowell by friends of Miss Myra McKeown in Youngstown, OH, where she promoted both art and music. It was renamed Irving Fine Studio in 1972 in honor of Irving Fine, a distinguished composer, conductor, and teacher who was a MacDowell Fellow during the 1940s and 1950s.
