Lesley Nneka Arimah made progress towards completing her novel, a work of magical realism set in a fictional Nigeria. She is the author of What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky (winner of the 2017 Kirkus Prize for Fiction), and she was awarded the 2018 Bridge Book Award from the American Initiative for Italian Culture (AIFIC). Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's, Granta, and other publications.

In the winter of 1998, motivated by his passion for reading, Stanford Calderwood donated funds for a new writers’ studio.
