Lisa Marie Malloy is a filmmaker whose feature-length and short works explore how mythic and mundane realms intertwine within structures of racial capitalism. Her relational practice is rooted in community collaborations in the U.S., East Asia, and Central America. Her films have screened at the Berlinale, MoMA (New York), IFFR, FICUNAM, the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, Barbican, TIDF, CPH:DOX, IDFA, and Centre Pompidou, and are distributed by Arsenal, Cinema Guild, and Grasshopper Films.
While at MacDowell, Malloy completed post-production on the short film The Creature of Darkness, co-directed with Ray Whitaker, and drafted a feature-length screenplay expanding the short’s place-based mythology and characters into a longer form. The short premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
