Márton Simon is a poet, a translator, and a spoken word performer from Hungary, where he is one of the most widely read authors of the past decade. He is the writer of four poetry collections: Songs for 3:45 AM, Polaroids, Fox Wedding, and At Night in the Kitchen I Wanted to Talk to You. His fifth poetry collection was published in September 2024.

While at MacDowell he worked on his sixth book's poems, concerning politics in Hungary, social issues, and war. He is translating contemporary poetry from English, and has a Master's degree in Japanese language and culture.

Márton Simon worked in the Garland studio.

Marian MacDowell and friends originally named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his life.
