Malachi Black completed his first book of poems. His book Storm Toward Morning was published in 2014 by Copper Canyon Press. A 2009 Ruth Lilly Fellow, he has also received fellowships from the Michener Center for Writers and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. A 2017 Rome Prize nominee, Black is assistant professor of English and creative writing at the University of San Diego and lives in California.

Wood

Malachi Black worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
