Manil Suri worked on his third novel, The City of Devi, a book on mathematics for nonmathematicians, and a memoir on growing up in Mumbai. His first novel, The Death of Vishnu, was a finalist for the PEN / Faulkner Award in 2002. In March 2015, he was appointed by The New York Times as a contributing opinion writer.

Marian MacDowell and friends named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his life.
