Margaret Perry is a playwright from Cork, Ireland, based in London. Her debut play Porcelain was produced by the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, in March 2018. Her second play, Collapsible, won an Origin Award for Outstanding New Work at Vault Festival 2019, the Fishamble New Writing Award at Dublin Fringe 2019, and transferred to the Bush Theatre in March 2020. Her third play Paradise Now! opened at the Bush Theatre in December 2022 and is currently nominated for a 2023 Olivier Award. Her plays are published by Nick Hern Books.

Perry spent her time at MacDowell writing a new play called Relic - a triptych set in a Catholic church in 1990s Ireland, medieval Rome, and present-day Ireland. Through the severed arm of a 12th-century saint, Relic explores the ways in which all of our bodies are tangled up with the mystery of faith. Relic is a commission from London's Soho Theatre.

Wood

Margaret Perry worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
