Martín Shanly is a filmmaker, known for the films About Twelve and About Thirty. The latter premiered at Berlinale and gained recognition, securing a spot on the Film Comment list of Best Undistributed Films of 2023. Recent recognitions include Best Director at BAFICI, Best Actor at the Las Palmas and Torino Film Festivals, and screenings at the Museum of Moving Image in New York and LALIFF in Los Angeles.

During his residency at MacDowell, Shanly focused on developing a screenplay outline, researching through books and films.

Martín Shanly worked in the Putnam studio.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
