Mary Beams is an American artist and animator, most widely known for the murals she created for the Boston MBTA green line train. Beams studied painting and graphic design at Miami University, filmmaking at Boston University, and animation at Harvard University. She then worked in computer graphics and advertising in New York, and became a teacher at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts. Her work circulates through auctions, and resides in several collections, including the Museum of Modern Art.
