Mary Temple is a painter and installation artist who has exhibited her work internationally and throughout the United States. Solo and group venues include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; SculptureCenter in Queens, NY; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, MA; The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT; Rice Gallery in Houston, TX; The Drawing Center in New York; and the Bunkamura Museum in Tokyo, Japan among many others.

While at MacDowell Temple continued to work on heterogenous, vibrant paintings that situate themselves between abstraction and recognition.

Mary Temple worked in the Firth studio.

Originally a working barn perched atop the namesake hill of Hillcrest Farm, this building was converted to serve the arts in 1956. A grand set of windows was installed to make the large interior suitable for visual artists, bringing in abundant natural light from the north.
