Micah Perks is the author of the novel What Becomes Us, winner of an Independent Publisher’s Book Award and named one of the Top Ten Books about the Apocalypse by The Guardian. Her other work includes a book of linked short stories, True Love and Other Dreams of Miraculous Escape, as well as a memoir, Pagan Time, a novel, We Are Gathered Here, and many essays and short stories. She co-directs the Creative Writing Program at University of California, Santa Cruz.

Wood

Micah Perks worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
