Min Kahng is a playwright, composer, lyricist, and creative coach whose works include The Four Immigrants, Gold: The Midas Musical and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.

He is a Travis Bogard Fellow and an alumnus of the Playwrights Foundation, Djerassi, Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, and the TheatreWorks New Works Festival. He is also a recipient of the Edgerton New Play Award (2017), the NAMT Production and Writers Residency Grants (2017 and 2019), and the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award (2018).

While at MacDowell, Kahng worked on orchestrations and underscoring for The Adventures of Honey & Leon, the Musical, which opened at New York City Children’s Theater in October 2022. He also worked on creating the piano score for Happy Pleasant Valley: An Asian American Senior Sex Scandal Murder Mystery Musical, commissioned by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley.

Sprague-Smith

Min Kahng worked in the Sprague-Smith studio.

In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
