Min Kahng is a musical theatre writer whose works include The Four Immigrants and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, the Musical.

He is a Travis Bogard Fellow and an alumnus of the Playwrights Foundation, Djerassi, Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, and the TheatreWorks New Works Festival. He is also a recipient of the Edgerton New Play Award (2017), the NAMT Production and Writers Residency Grants (2017 & 2019), and the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award (2018 & 2026).

While at MacDowell, Kahng worked on orchestrations and underscoring for The Adventures of Honey & Leon, the Musical, which opened at New York City Children’s Theater in 2022. He also worked on creating the piano score for Happy Pleasant Valley: A Senior Sex Scandal Murder Mystery Musical, which premiered at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley and CenterREP in 2025.

Min Kahng worked in the Sprague-Smith studio.

In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
