MJ Kaufman is a playwright working on a queer thriller. Their work has been seen at the Public Theater, the New Museum, WP Theater, Clubbed Thumb, Colt Coeur, National Asian American Theater Company, Yale School of Drama, InterAct Theater, and performed in Russian in Moscow. MJ was recently a staff writer on seasons 1 and 2 of Netflix' "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." MJ has curated two years of the Trans Theater Festival at The Brick and together with Kit Yan, MJ founded Trans Lab, a fellowship for trans theater artists.

Marian MacDowell and friends originally named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his life.
