Originally from Kolkata, India, Neerja holds a M.F.A. from School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston/Tufts University. She is currently residing and working in Brooklyn. She is working on a body of work investigating the absurdities in trying to quantify an unquantifiable experience. Her work was recently featured in the NE #110 issue of New American Paintings journal.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
