Nina Perrotta is a literary translator from Spanish and Portuguese into English and an editor at Words Without Borders. Her first book-length translation, London on My Mind by Brazilian writer Clara Alves, was published by Scholastic in 2024. Shorter translations have appeared or are forthcoming in the Iowa Review, The Common, and the Charco Press anthology La Lucha: Latin American Feminism Today, among others. She has received grants and fellowships from the Fulbright Commission, the British Centre for Literary Translation, and the Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference. In 2022, she was a finalist for the Peirene Stevns Translation Prize.
At MacDowell, Perrotta worked on a translation from Portuguese of The Pediatrician, a novel by award-winning Brazilian writer Andréa del Fuego. An excerpt of the translation was a finalist for the 2025 Gulf Coast Prize in Translation; judge Wendy Chen wrote, "This translation is brilliant in its sensitivities to the rhythms of the language and brings to readers a work that pulses with latent desire." In March 2026, the translation was shortlisted for PEN Presents: Brazil, a program by English PEN supporting sample translations of underrepresented works into English.
