Phoebe Oathout's short fiction has been published in Gulf Coast, The Kenyon Review, Greensboro Review, and elsewhere. She is a graduate of Stanford's Modern Thought and Literature program and earned her M.F.A. in 2023 from the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars. Before moving to Baltimore, she lived in Laramie, WY, where she worked in university financial aid.
While at MacDowell, she worked on her debut short story collection about trans women whose closest relationships exist on the internet.

MacDowell and friends originally named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the
nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his
life.
With
generous support from the Garland family, the studio was renovated in
2013 and renamed the Peter and Mary Garland Studio. The inward
opening, diamond-pane windows were replaced…
