When Weng Pixin was a child, her father told her stories that reflected his curious nature; now she aims to express that same curiosity in her semi-autobiographical comics. Weng is the author of two graphic novels, Sweet Time (2020) and Let’s Not Talk Anymore (2021). Her upcoming graphic novel, Wake Up, Pixoto! At MacDowell, Weng began work on her comic, Two Bugs (working title), that collected anecdotes, experiences, and memories inspired by acts of care, love and support amidst conflicts, disagreements, and fears. Two Bugs, an estimated 200-250-paged comic, also acts as her love letter to children’s book authors, newspapers cartoonists, and comics artists whom she admired and found solace in whenever the world felt dark and unpredictable.
