Sabrina Orah Mark is the author of the poetry collections The Babies and Tsim Tsum. Wild Milk, her first book of fiction, was published by Dorothy, a publishing project. Happily, which began as a monthly column on fairytales and motherhood in The Paris Review, was published by Random House in 2023 and won a National Jewish Book Award. In addition to teaching private workshops, she is a faculty member at the Bennington Writing Seminars.

While at MacDowell, Mark worked on her fifth book, The Fire Book, a novel about a family who survives a house fire that grew as much out of her experience of her own house burning down in 2021 as it did out of her fascination with historical preservation, the possessions that keep us, and the myths we inhabit.

Marian MacDowell and friends originally named this studio in memory of Anna Baetz, the nurse who helped care for Edward MacDowell in the waning years of his life.
