Samuel Espíndola Hernández is the author of Resonancias Magnéticas (Pez Espiral, 2021), from which some poems received the Roberto Bolaño Award. He was an Emerge-Surface-Be Fellow for the Poetry Project 2023-2024.
While at MacDowell, he completed a first draft of his second poetry and genre-defying book titled Lenticular. It is a book full of 90s nostalgia that intertwines essay, narrative, and poetry. Using some sort of obsessive, systematic speculation, the book tracks the stories around a haunted painting from fake séances in London to volcanic landscapes in southern Chile, to show the relation between post-dictatorship mourning, superstition, desire and popular culture.
