Sara Lautman is a cartoonist and illustrator. Her cartoons and comics have been collected in I Love You (Retrofit, 2018), The Ultimate Laugh (Tinto Press, 2016; nominated for an Ignatz Award), and a new collection is will be published by New York Review Comics in 2020. Her work has appeared in The New York Times Book Review, Playboy, Mad, The Paris Review, and regularly with The New Yorker.

At MacDowell, she wrote and drew the first draft of a graphic novella, to be published by Diskette Press in May 2020. She also developed illustration work for the novel Plain Bad Heroines, written by Emily Danforth, to be published by William Morrow in September 2020. She teaches a comics seminar in the liberal arts program at MICA in Baltimore, where she's lived since 2013.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides.
