Shon Kim is an experimental filmmaker and visual artist. He has presented works at MoMA, REDCAT, The Hammer Museum, Modern and Contemporary Art Centre in Hungary, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo in Chile, IFC Center, Chicago Cultural Center, Orange County Contemporary Art Center, Mana Contemporary, Torrance Art Museum, Arad Art Museum, ARTUM, the National Arts Council Singapore, Seoul Museum of Art, Arko Art Center, Asia Cultural Center(ACC), Daegu Art Museum, OCI Museum of Art, Coreana Museum, Art Center Nabi, The Bienal de la Imagen en Movimiento, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Odense Film Festival, etc. In residence, he worked on his recent experimental animation project “BOOKANIMA.” Kim's films from the project have been awarded Best Art/Experimental Film from San Francisco Dance Film Festival, Best Experimental Film from Spain Moving Images Festival, Hybrid Jury Award from The Silhouette Festival, Innovation Award from Bucharest International Dance Film Festival, Video Prize from Avanca Festival, Royal Reel Winner from Canada International Film Festival, The Best Video Art from MARACAY International Film & Video Festival, 1st Place from KinoDrome, Korean EXiS Award from Experimental Film & Video Festival In Seoul, Best Director from Seoul Dance Film Festival, Best Experimental Film from Dance Music Video Film Festival DaMuVi Fest, Best Animation from SounDance Film Festival, Best Dance Film from Jacksonville Dance Film Festival, Best New Media from Barcelona Experimental Film Festival, etc. from 2018 to 2020.

Mixter

Shon Kim worked in the Mixter studio.

Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925. Mixter Studio, solidly built of yellow and grey-hued granite, once had sweeping views of Pack Monadnock to the east. The lush forest has now grown…
