Soetkin Verstegen is a filmmaker and animator. Her films Freeze Frame (2019) and Mr Sand (2016) have been screened at Oberhausen, Hot Docs, Vienna Independent Shorts, and she received jury awards in Ann Arbor, Clermont Ferrand, and Annecy. She has been a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude and Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral in Germany, Saari Residency in Finland, and AniDox Residency in Denmark.

She’s a guest professor at LUCA school of arts in Brussels, with a focus on experimental, expanded and documentary animation.

At MacDowell, she is developing an animated diary, combining drawing and photography.

Putnam

Soetkin Verstegen worked in the Putnam studio.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
