Tayari Jones worked on her fourth novel, An American Marriage, which is set in her hometown of Atlanta, GA. In February 2018 it was chosen for Oprah's Book Club, and it won the 2019 Women's Prize for Fiction. Her other titles include Silver Sparrow and Leaving Atlanta.

In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
